CaptainHarbor Assist TowingDetroit, MI / Toledo, OH (Consolidated Port) | Minimum 3-4 Years ExperienceThe Mural Group | Industrial DivisionOVERVIEWSeeking a Captain with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience to provide Harbor Assist towing within the consolidated port of Detroit, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio.RESPONSIBILITIESFamiliarization with the Federal Requirements governing the operation of Towing Vessels, 46 CFR Subchapter MFamiliarization with our Policies and Procedures, including our Responsible Carrier Program ManualMaintain and analyze our Engine Room Logs, Comments Section, and Engine Hours Reports; periodically review outstanding maintenance items with the Engineer to ensure tugs are maintained and repaired to a seaworthy and safe conditionTravel as needed to our tug docks located throughout the Great Lakes system to perform towing assignments (both harbor towing and cross lake towing); travel may involve stays away from home residenceAssist with preparation of quotes for Outside Tows to meet customer demandsEnsure vessels are crewed, operated, and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectationsImplement standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound shipEnsure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirementsInvestigate vessel damage and personal injuriesInspect vessels to ensure seaworthy condition and arrange for maintenance and repair activities to correct any deficienciesQUALIFICATIONSMust be able to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgmentMust be able to work independently and without direct supervisionMust have strong communication and leadership skillsMust be very familiar with tug operations and repair and maintenance of marine equipmentMust wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to daily job dutiesMINIMUM WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTSCarry up to 50 poundsRepetitive climbing stairs and laddersRepetitive bending, twisting, kneeling, and reachingStand constantlyExposure to loud noise dailyAccess confined spacesWork in all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)Work a variety of schedules and hoursWork weekends, holidays, and at nights on short noticeEDUCATION AND TRAININGValid USCG Master of Towing Vessel License upon Great Lakes, Inland Waters and Western RiversValid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)Marine Radio Operator PermitValid CPR and First Aid cardValid Driver's License #J-18808-Ljbffr
