About Our Movement Disorders Program
Our organization leads the way in the state with its Movement Disorders program. As the inaugural Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence in South Carolina, we provide the only all-encompassing movement disorders program in the region, featuring an interdisciplinary care approach, opportunities for patients to engage in clinical trials, and various support and educational initiatives.
Overview of the Neurology Movement Disorder Team in Charleston
- A collaborative and intellectually engaging team consisting of 7 faculty members, 2 advanced practice providers, research coordinators, nursing personnel, and comprehensive administrative support.
- Utilization of advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary planning, and a wide array of medical and innovative treatment options.
- Active involvement in research, fostering collaboration with our neurosciences program, the College of Health Professionals for Movement Rehabilitation, and the Center for Bioimaging.
- Recognition through multiple national designations, including the Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence, Huntington's Disease Society of America Center of Excellence, and CurePSP Center of Care.
Essential Qualifications
- A strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and teamwork.
- Specialized knowledge in Movement Disorders, including but not limited to Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Dystonia, and Deep Brain Stimulation.
- Board certification in Neurology and completion of a fellowship in movement disorders.
- An academic focus, enthusiasm for teaching, and a passion for outreach and research.
