Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations for clients to determine appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Design and implement individualized therapy strategies that incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused strategies.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to diverse client groups, including individuals, couples, and families, addressing various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance misuse.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical documentation to comply with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and strategies for effective treatment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through workshops and seminars to stay informed about the latest research and innovations in mental health care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Morrison Counseling Center focuses on serving individuals and families in Paterson and the surrounding areas who have limited access to mental health services. Our client base includes children, adolescents, and adults facing a variety of mental health challenges. The LPC will play a key role in reducing stigma and barriers to care while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all clients.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in counseling or therapeutic settings.
  • Strong knowledge of legal and ethical standards in counseling practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems and other related technologies.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialization in family therapy, couples therapy, substance abuse treatment, or trauma-informed care.
  • Experience in community mental health settings and familiarity with culturally responsive practices.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary ranging from USD 70,000 to 90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and caseload.
