Role Description The Instrumentation Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Midland, TX, responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting a wide range of industrial instruments and control systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing and commissioning instrumentation, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance, and diagnosing issues in process control loops. The role involves documenting work performed, updating maintenance logs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The Instrumentation Specialist will collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize system performance, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires hands-on field work, clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, and a strong focus on safe work practices.
Qualifications

  • Strong instrumentation skills, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of sensors, transmitters, and control devices.
  • Experience with calibration and preventive maintenance activities to ensure measurement accuracy and equipment reliability.
  • Proficiency in process control principles, including monitoring, adjusting, and optimizing control systems.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities for instrumentation and control system faults, including diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and the ability to follow safe work practices in field and plant environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and vendor partners.
  • Relevant technical diploma, certification, or associate degree in instrumentation, electronics, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Prior experience in industrial environments such as oil and gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing is beneficial.
