MissionHires is looking for a compassionate Speech Therapist on behalf of a nonprofit home and community healthcare organization. This role delivers in-home speech and language therapy services, including assessment, treatment, education, care coordination, and discharge planning, to help clients improve or restore communication, feeding, oral-motor, and related functional skills.

How You'll Contribute

  • Provide speech and language therapy services in clients’ homes and community settings in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and professional standards.
  • Conduct screenings, evaluations, direct treatment, consultations, and instruction for clients and families.
  • Assess receptive and expressive language, feeding skills, written language and computation, articulation and phonological development, and oral-motor skills.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and revise individualized plans of care with measurable outcomes, treatment goals, and discharge plans.
  • Continuously assess client needs, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and document interventions, progress, and outcomes accurately and on time.
  • Educate clients and families on self-care, therapy procedures, treatment goals, and strategies that support independent living.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, physicians, case managers, payers, and interdisciplinary care team members to coordinate services and treatment-plan changes.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and solution-oriented care planning.
  • Maintain compliance with home health regulations, confidentiality requirements, infection-control practices, safety procedures, and reimbursement documentation standards.
  • Manage visit schedules efficiently, meet productivity expectations, prioritize urgent client needs, and communicate significant changes in client condition to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional licensure and clinical competency through required education, in-service programs, and ongoing development.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Speech and Language Therapy or Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist license in the State of Maine.
  • Current CPR certification, with renewal required every two years.
  • At least one year of clinical speech therapy experience preferred.
  • Home health experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of standards of practice established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Ability to assess, treat, document, and coordinate care for clients with speech, language, feeding, and oral-motor needs.
  • Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, private insurance, and other third-party reimbursement requirements.
  • Strong clinical judgment, case-management, communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Reliable automobile, current Maine driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to work safely in varied patient home environments, including environments with potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Independent malpractice insurance is strongly advised.

Perks & Benefits

  • Excellent health insurance.
  • PTO (4-weeks), 6 holidays.
  • Rellocation assistance.
  • Collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Team-based preceptor model and organizational/program orientation for the first six months.
  • Ongoing in-service education and support for professional development.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization recognized as a Best Place to Work in Maine.
  • Potential full-time, part-time, or per-diem scheduling based on organizational and client needs.
