Service Technician - Commercial Roofing


Company Overview

Mid-South Roof Systems is a leading commercial roofing contractor serving clients nationwide. We specialize in the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of commercial roofing systems, delivering exceptional quality and customer service. We are seeking motivated, experienced professionals to join our Service team. Qualified candidates will have 1-3 years of hands-on experience in commercial roofing and a working knowledge of systems such as sheet metal, EPDM, TPO, and PVC.


Job Summary

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing a variety of commercial roofing systems for our customers nationwide. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will use your knowledge of multiple roofing systems-including TPO, EPDM, PVC, BUR, and sheet metal-to deliver high-quality workmanship, ensure safety compliance, and provide outstanding customer service.


Responsibilities

Install various commercial roofing materials and sheet metal components with minimal supervision, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Perform advanced flashing work, including complex designs and configurations, to ensure proper waterproofing and system performance.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures; identify hazards and take proactive measures to prevent accidents.
Inspect documents, tools, and equipment for compliance with project and safety standards; maintain accurate records.
Lead crews when needed, delegating tasks, coordinating work, and maintaining productivity and quality in the absence of the foreman.
Train and mentor new team members, sharing skills and best practices to promote continuous improvement.


Technical Skills

Roofing & Sheet Metal Expertise: Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems and sheet metal applications, including TPO, EPDM, PVC, and BUR; able to perform precise, high-quality installations.
Safety Knowledge: Familiar with roofing and sheet metal safety equipment, procedures, and best practices; proactively manages safety to prevent accidents.
Layout & Cutting: Skilled in layout and cutting for field and cricket applications, ensuring accurate measurements and alignments using industry-standard tools.
Tool Operation: Proficient in the use and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools required for roofing and sheet metal work.
Communication: Understands and uses hand signals for on-site communication; works effectively with other trades and communicates professionally with customers.
Material & Safety Management: Assists with material inventory, procurement, and distribution; supports safety initiatives through inspections and protocol enforcement.
Data & Documentation: Supports the foreman in completing daily paperwork and work orders in Dataforma or similar software; ensures accurate and complete records for project tracking.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certifications preferred.

Willing to work weekends and extended hours based on production needs.
