Key Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints, specifications, addendums, and related documents to determine scope and project requirements.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for lighting, power distribution, lowโ€‘voltage systems, gear, conduit, wire, and equipment.
  • Develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Midwest Services for bid strategy, clarifications, risk analysis, and proposal reviews.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and compare quotes.
  • Prepare RFI questions, scope sheets, and bid-leveling documentation.
  • Understand valueโ€‘engineering opportunities and propose alternative materials or installation methods.
  • Participate in handoff meetings with project managers and field teams to ensure clarity of scope and expectations.
  • Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and organized bid documentation.
  • Assist with preconstruction planning, budgeting, and conceptual estimating when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical systems, distribution equipment, cabling, lighting, fire alarm, BMS, and lowโ€‘voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and project manuals.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, McCormick preferred).
  • Strong math, analytical, and problemโ€‘solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Highly organized, detailโ€‘oriented, and able to work independently from the Irvine office while collaborating with leadership in Sterling Heights.
  • Experience preparing budgets, designโ€‘assist or designโ€‘build estimates (preferred).

Why This Role Is Important

  • Supports growth of the Electrical MEP Services Group throughout the Midwest.
  • Provides direct estimating capacity closer to Midwestโ€‘based clients and projects.
  • Ensures seamless alignment with the Sterling Heights estimating leadership.
