Job description

This position is posted multi-level and will be filled based on the selected candidate's education, years of experience and skillset. 

The engineer II provides engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Responsibilities include project management, estimating, materials procurement and construction contracting. This is the second level position of the engineer career path.

MidAmerican Energy Company, a Midwest utility, provides regulated electric and natural gas service to more than 1.6 million customers in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system; focus may include planning and budgeting gas and electric systems. (40%) Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, designing, estimating, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (20%) Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (20%) Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%) Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business. (5%) Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. " Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the natural gas transmission and distribution system. "
