Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Asphalt screed operator to join our paving crew. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining paving equipment, including pavers to ensure smooth asphalt paving projects. Your expertise will help deliver durable, high-quality roadways, parking lots, and other infrastructure projects efficiently and safely. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites.

Duties

  • Operate paving equipment such as pavers, screeds, and bituminous materials accurately according to project specifications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot construction machinery to ensure optimal performance, adhering to safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns during operations.
  • Follow DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety protocols diligently while working on public infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure proper placement of screeds and other paving components for smooth surface finishes.

Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge with experience in construction machinery maintenance and repair is preferred.
  • Proven ability to operate asphalt paver screed. 1 year experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with working on civil infrastructure projects involving asphalt paving and construction.
  • Knowledge of bituminous materials, paving jobsite tasks, and screed operation.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements and material quantities accurately.
  • Understanding of safety regulations including OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors on project progress and safety concerns.
