Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform soldering and rework tasks on electronic assemblies.
  • Work under the direction of the production supervisor or lead.
  • Maintain required production rates and workflows.
  • Function effectively under time pressure.
  • Collaborate positively with co-workers.
  • Follow written manufacturing processes and instructions.
  • Work in compliance with OSHA, SDS, and company safety policies.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods during soldering tasks.
  • Work under a microscope with excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Interpret PCB assembly drawings and instructions accurately.
  • Complete component identification training.


Performs standard component removal and replacement tasks under moderate supervision with high accuracy.

  • Remove and replace components using hot air, Pace IR systems, Air-Vac systems, or other standard methods.
  • Perform basic through-hole, surface-mount (SMT), and wire soldering.
  • Perform visual inspections to identify solder defects and bridging.
  • Perform wire tinning and use manual solder-removal tools.
  • Requirement: IPC-A-610 certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimal industry experience required.


Performs complex rework tasks with little to no supervision with high accuracy and speed.

  • Perform pad and trace repairs on printed circuit boards.
  • Operate Pace IR and Air-Vac systems for more intricate component removal.
  • Install and remove leaded electronic packages using preheaters.
  • Use jumper wires for circuit modifications.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of solder theory and industry standards.
  • Requirement: IPC-A-610 certification required.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of industry soldering and rework experience.


Demonstrates expert-level mastery, operates independently, and trains other team members.

  • Perform advanced, complex damaged PCB repairs (e.g., plated hole, edge, or multi-layer base material repairs).
  • Program and operate semi-automated Pace IR or Air-Vac rework systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and train others in advanced rework techniques.
  • Requirement: IPC-A-610 certification required.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of industry experience or equivalent.

Qualifications & Core Skills

  • ITAR Compliance: Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Individual) as defined by ITAR.
  • Certifications: Active IPC-7711/7721 and J-STD-001 certifications are mandatory.
  • Handling & Quality Control: Demonstrated understanding and direct experience with:
    • Handling of Moisture Sensitive SMT Components (MSD)
    • Control of Non-conforming Product
    • Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and Damage mitigation
    • Proper handling of electronic assemblies (ESD control and physical care)
  • Equipment: Operation of Air-Vac or Pace IR systems.
  • Math & Logic: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
