We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded, and compassionate Route Driver / DSP to join our team.
Position Summary
As a Route Driver / DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals access services, activities, and opportunities within their community. This position combines safe transportation responsibilities with direct support duties, allowing you to build meaningful relationships while supporting independence and community inclusion.
The ideal candidate enjoys driving, values reliability, and is committed to providing excellent customer service and person-centered support.
Schedule Expectations
This position requires approximately two to three hours of driving in the morning and two to three hours of driving in the afternoon, although driving time may vary based on route assignments and individual needs.
The exact start and end times will vary based on the driver's home location.
The driver begins each day by leaving their home and traveling to the first scheduled member pickup. The morning route continues according to the established transportation schedule, ensuring members arrive safely and on time. In the afternoon, the driver follows the designated return route, picking members up from their assigned locations and transporting them safely home.
Between transportation routes, the employee may assist with DSP responsibilities, activities, community involvement, or other program needs.
What You'll Do

• Safely transport individuals to and from day services, appointments, and community activities.
• Follow established transportation routes and schedules.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate transportation records and documentation.
• Assist individuals with entering, exiting, and riding safely in agency vehicles.
• Provide direct support and supervision as needed.
• Promote community participation and independence.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals supported.
• Communicate effectively with families, staff, and supervisors.
• Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications

• Valid Tennessee driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass required background and drug screenings.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Previous professional driving or transportation experience.
