Job description

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a criminal justice environment. College level education may substitute for related experience on a year-for-year basis. Must be certified through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) with a full certification as a Terminal Agency Coordinator within six-month probationary period. Preference given to candidates with two years of college and/or previous public safety communications experience. 

*Required to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas.  These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments.

SUMMARY 
Trains and supervises personnel engaged in receiving and dispatching police services requests; coordinates the exchange of crime information data and monitors unit operating budget. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Assigns work to and supervises unit employees. Ensures day-to-day activities, in support of unit work goals, are completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner within established policies and procedures.
  2. Coaches personnel on proper performance of work, frequently providing direct technical assistance.
  3. Plans, monitors, evaluates and develops employee performance to maximize employee potential and maintain a high-performance environment.
  4. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business.
  5. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Directly supervises the staff of the Communications Unit. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Must obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification within 30 days of employment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 
An official investigation into applicants' background will be conducted including a criminal history records check. A physical examination, including drug/alcohol screen, will be required.
