Metro Aviation, Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join the PMA Production Shop at Metro Aviation, Inc. Headquarters in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Job Objective

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all Quality Assurance functions within the PMA Production Shop, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and company standards. This position also serves as the FAA Part 21 PMA Accountable Manager and the AS9100 Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Ensuring that Quality Control is performed according to approved procedures per Federal Aviation Regulation and the AS9100 Aerospace Standard.
  • Maintaining the PMA Quality Manual.
  • Coordinating FAA approval of revisions to the PMA Quality Manual.
  • Directing Quality Department Staff and Inspectors.
  • Managing supplier quality to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Coordinating or performing internal audits.
  • Managing and overseeing the Material Review Board process.
  • Overseeing the submittal of Request for Engineering Orders (EO's) and drawing revisions.
  • Issuing FAA Form 8130-3, for articles and parts produced by Metro Aviation (if properly trained and authorized).
  • Conducting Root Cause Analysis and assigning and/or approving Corrective Actions.
  • As the Accountable Manager, serves as the primary contact with the FAA.
    • Monitors planning and production operations under FAA Part 21 and manufacturing of aviation articles
    • Responsible for:
      • Having sufficient personnel for the work to be performed.
      • The production of aviation articles to an airworthy condition in conformance with approved standard(s) and FAA Approved Type Design.
      • Planning and storing spare parts and hardware and having the necessary tools and equipment to ensure serviceability and accuracy.
      • Ensuring that the airworthiness coordination with the Engineering Department is performed according to the procedures described in this Metro Aviation Quality Manual.
      • The training of production personnel.
      • Participating in the Material Review Board Process.

  • Inventory Clerk/Quality Assurance Inspector
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive inspection.
  • Extensive knowledge of special processes (e.g. welding, chemical conversion coating, heat-treating, and application of primer/topcoats).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others in different departments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings.
  • Exceptional communication skills are required.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Quality Management, Engineering, or similar) or equivalent work experience within the Aviation Industry.
  • Proven quality leadership experience in aviation manufacturing related environment preferably using the AS9100 Quality System.
  • Extensive experience with quality control methods and techniques.

  • Use of heavy machinery
  • Lifting up to 50 or more pounds
Work Environment
  • Indoor/outdoor shop environment with potential extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level
Work Status, Schedule, & Travel
  • Full-time
  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Extended periods of travel, 3-4 times per year
