Messiah Community Food Shelf

Rescue drivers pick up food at a partner location (such as grocery store), using their own vehicle, and bring it back to the food shelf.

Timing - morning (pick ups are in the morning, usually early enough to be back dropping off at the food shelf by 9-9:30am; there is some flexibility, but we want to be sure our crews have time to sort and stock all the items received)

Qualifications

• Must have your own vehicle and be willing to drive it for pickups.
• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current insurance.
• Ability to follow food safety procedures and complete basic paperwork (taking temps of food). *We will train you!
• Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with grocery store staff and donation partners.
• Must be able to lift and move around boxes or crates of food.

We would love someone who can pick up weekly, but we also need drivers who can be a part of a pool (such as 2-3 drivers who rotate days they can pick up at a particular location).
