Job Title: Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)
Important Notes:
  • Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
  • Candidate must be available for after-hours and weekend support
  • Participation in on-call production support rotation is required
  • One or two rounds of technical interviews followed by a 2-hour onsite technical assessment (machine test) at Client's Headquarters

Job Summary
Client is seeking a highly experienced Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer to design, implement, administer, and optimize Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Oracle databases, WebLogic, APEX, ORDS, Linux administration, automation, database migrations, disaster recovery, and OCI cloud services while supporting mission-critical production environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.
  • Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications and Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
  • Administer Oracle WebLogic Server, Fusion Middleware, and Oracle databases.
  • Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and platform conversions.
  • Upgrade Oracle Database from 19c to 26ai.
  • Configure and manage Oracle Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB).
  • Perform PDB cloning, RMAN backup/recovery, Data Guard administration, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Apply Oracle PSU patches using Fleet Management tools.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 24ai).
  • Automate administration tasks using Shell scripting, Ansible, and GitLab.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for application deployment.
  • Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and database security best practices.
  • Provide production support, including after-hours and weekend maintenance.
  • Document system configurations and mentor team members on Oracle OCI best practices.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Oracle APEX 18+
    • Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22+
    • Oracle WebLogic Server 14
    • Oracle Database 19c & 26ai
    • Oracle Container Databases (CDB) & Pluggable Databases (PDB)
  • Experience upgrading Oracle databases from 19c to 26ai.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration and Shell scripting skills.
  • Experience with RMAN, Oracle Data Guard, WebLogic patching, and Fleet Management.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 24ai).
  • Experience with DBaaS in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with GitLab and Ansible automation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and database security.
  • Ability to participate in on-call production support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Oracle certifications (OCP, OCIP, OCE).
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Knowledge of Python and JavaScript scripting.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Azure administration.
  • Experience with Windows, SQL Server, and IIS administration.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API integrations.
