Position Overview

Mercy Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our compassionate and dynamic healthcare team. Work Environment

This position is based onsite at a reputable hospital in Globe, AZ, providing a vibrant and collaborative work atmosphere. Our facility is designed to encourage teamwork among healthcare professionals and ensure that every patient receives comprehensive and focused attention. The typical work schedule for this role is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet patient needs and support clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in developing and implementing customized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs, ensuring a focus on improving mobility, strength, and functionality.
  • Engage directly with patients during therapy sessions, ensuring they are guided through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities aimed at promoting physical recovery and reducing pain.
  • Educate patients on proper body mechanics and home exercise programs, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery process.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, ensuring high standards of patient care.
  • Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking significant improvements in strength, range of motion, and overall functionality.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring that equipment and supplies are organized and readily available for effective therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to coordinate comprehensive patient care and enhance therapeutic outcomes.
  • Provide encouragement and emotional support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journeys, fostering a positive environment that motivates them to achieve their goals.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and abide by professional guidelines, prioritizing patient confidentiality and respect for their rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Possession of a valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Strong foundation of knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy practice.
  • Ability to effectively administer therapeutic exercises and modalities as guided by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong capability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team.
  • A patient-centered approach to care with a genuine commitment to helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Detail-oriented with effective organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Hands-on experience with various patient populations, adapting treatment strategies to meet diverse needs.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development or certifications beyond licensing requirements.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role ranges from USD 60,000 to 80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
