Work Environment

This position is based in a hospital setting, providing an onsite work experience that allows you to directly interact with patients throughout their recovery journey. The work environment emphasizes teamwork and consistent communication among healthcare providers, including Physical Therapists, physicians, and nursing staff. Key Responsibilities

• Implement customized treatment plans developed by supervising Physical Therapists to enhance patients' strength, balance, endurance, and mobility.
• Assist patients in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) safely and effectively, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
• Accurately document all therapy sessions and communicate any changes in condition or progress to the supervising Physical Therapist and the broader care team.
• Instruct patients and their caregivers in safe mobility techniques, tailoring home exercise programs to ensure effective and supportive recovery at home.
• Provide education to residents, families, and facility staff about exercise strategies, wellness techniques, and recovery processes.
• Work closely with an interdisciplinary team that may include occupational therapists, nurses, and social workers to provide comprehensive care.
• Monitor patient progress consistently, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and delivering timely updates on any changes in the patient's condition to relevant healthcare providers and family members.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will serve primarily include residents recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, and age-related ailments in a hospital context. Your role as a PTA will provide these individuals with essential support on their path to recovery, allowing them to remain active participants in their own care. You will engage with patients of varying ages and conditions, understanding their unique challenges and tailoring interventions accordingly.

Qualifications

• A degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is mandatory.
• An active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey is required.
• Strong clinical knowledge, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs, is essential.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred; additional certifications in areas such as geriatrics or neurological rehabilitation would be advantageous.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required to facilitate potential patient visits outside the hospital setting.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within assisted living, senior care, or skilled nursing facilities is preferred, although not mandatory.
• Background in rehabilitative care for elderly populations or individuals with chronic conditions would be beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits
