Job description

Description The Seasonal Chemical Applicator assists the McKenzie County Weed Control Officer to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of weed control throughout McKenzie County. This class reports to the Weed Control Officer. The schedule is seasonal: typically ranging from May to October.

Essential Job Functions Apply weed control by using spraying equipment using the correct chemicals for the control of noxious weeds throughout McKenzie County Operate and use application equipment: four wheelers, four-wheel drive, application delivery systems, shovels, etc. Responsible for mixing the application of herbicides, maintenance of all application equipment, appearance and cleanliness of the facility, properly disposing of empty chemical containers and materials Perform work tasks in a safe manner; monitor safety procedures, conduct safety meetings, check for safe working practices and effectively communicate these to employees; compile and make available Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to all spray applicators Performs other duties of a similar nature or level Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License Commercial Chemical Applicator License (or able to obtain within 30 days of hire) Identify noxious weeds Operating an ATV Physical requirements and working conditions: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Moderate Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/ or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
