We're a fast-growing lab supplies e-commerce company based in Maryland and we're looking for an experienced, self-directed sales rep to own and grow our customer base.
This is a 100% commission role. If that scared you off, this isn't for you. If it excited you, keep reading.
What you'll be selling:
Lab consumables and equipment to analytical, QC, HPLC/LC-MS, cannabis testing, food/beverage testing, and molecular biology labs. Our differentiators are real and easy to sell: no hidden fees EVER, always-free ground shipping, no hazmat or tax surprises, impeccable fulfillment (we have like a 0.01% return/refund rate), and a human responds in under 10 minutes every time. No phone trees. No nonsense.
The opportunity:
You'll inherit a warm book of 100+ active customers who already buy from us. Your job is two things:
- Expand what existing customers buy (most of them are only ordering 1-2 product categories and don't know what else we carry)
- Find and close new accounts
At our current revenue run rate, a rep working this book at full commission earns $90,000-$110,000/year just maintaining existing business. Growing it is entirely up to you...and there's no cap.
Commission structure:
- 7% of gross sales amount on existing customer revenue (customers you didn't source)
- 9% on new business you source
- Paid monthly on collected revenue
- No cap, ever
What we're looking for:
- MUST HAVE 4+ years in lab supplies, lab consumables, or life science distribution sales. Not pharma, not medical devices, specifically lab consumables
- Experience at a small or mid-size distributor is strongly preferred over a big box (Fisher, VWR, Grainger). You need to know how to sell on service and relationships, not catalog size
- You're a phone person. You actually call people. Email is a follow-up tool, you almost NEVER send cold emails.
- You manage your own pipeline effectively without being micromanaged. We don't micromanage, we hire based on results and expect those results to be met
- You will sell primarily over phone + email, but if you're near potential customers you can for sure drive to them as well
- You have existing relationships in the lab community whom you can leverage. You don't have to bring customers over on day one, but having existing relationships will take you FAR
- East Coast based preferred for time zone alignment
What we're NOT looking for:
- Someone who needs a large base salary to feel comfortable
- Someone who needs marketing support, a big brand name, or a massive catalog to close deals
- Someone who is used to expense accounts and corporate infrastructure
- Someone who will treat existing customers as "set it and forget it"
- Someone who doesn't LOVE building relationships
