Job description

Director of Business Development

Hands-on senior leadership role that combines strategic vision with day-to-day operational execution. Oversees the proposal team and manages campaigns across all 13 business units. Works closely with Chief Strategy Officer, Director of Marketing and Communications, and senior leadership to translate corporate goals into actionable marketing initiatives.

Hybrid role based in Denver, CO.

Key Strategic Responsibilities
  • Organize, plan, schedule, and manage the firmโ€™s sales efforts
  • Determine sales objectives to meet firmwide goals
  • Manage CRM system to capture client data and track business development activity
  • Work with technical staff to develop proposals, scopes of work, and estimate fees
  • Develop business development model and strategy seller-doer program
  • Direct or develop training of employees firm-wide, including marketing and business development staff, and seller-doers
  • Maintain visibility in professional and community organizations
  • Develop long-term client relationships with goal of making optimal go/no-go decisions, develop effective win strategies, and ensure highest satisfaction and service
  • Assess each potential pursuit regarding its ability to meet the firmโ€™s strategic positioning and goals
  • Represent the firm at the highest level to clients, peer organizations, and business associates
  • Work with team members to create and execute a winning strategy for all key chases; ensure teams have identified appropriate benefits and differentiators
  • Continuously research and analyze market trends, emerging geographies, target sectors, and prospective clients to identify and prioritize strategic growth opportunities
  • Travel, as needed

  • Exhibits strong leadership, management, and mentoring capabilities, including the ability to coach and develop others
  • Possesses foundational business management acumen, including planning, coordination, and decision-making skills
  • Maintains a high standard of professional competence and technical proficiency
  • Applies strong organizational skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines effectively
  • Works independently with minimal supervision while contributing collaboratively in team environments
  • Shows persistence and resilience in overcoming challenges and achieving objectives
  • Consistently follows through on commitments and delivers reliable results
  • Valid driverโ€™s license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Companyโ€™s MVR screening
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Managing a proposal team while overseeing schedules, assignments, and deadlines to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
Education and Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive business development experience, including team leadership
