About the Role

MathCo is seeking a commercially minded Pharma and Life Sciences Customer Success Consultant to drive account growth, strengthen strategic client relationships, and oversee the success of key engagements across pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, developing a deep understanding of their business priorities and connecting those needs to MathCo’s analytics, AI, GenAI, and data solutions.

The ideal candidate will combine strong Pharma or Life Sciences expertise with consulting, relationship management, and business development experience. The role is primarily focused on revenue growth and account expansion, with responsibility for maintaining delivery quality, client satisfaction, and long-term partnership success.

The position may be hired at the Engagement Manager or Associate Principal level based on experience.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Engagement Manager with a strong background in Insurance to lead strategic AI and advanced analytics engagements for leading insurance carriers. As part of the Customer Success team, you will lead complex, cross-functional engagements spanning insurance pricing, underwriting, actuarial analytics, and AI-driven decision solutions.

You will work closely with client business leaders across Pricing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Analytics, and Technology to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI and advanced analytics solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong insurance domain expertise and quantitative acumen with experience leading AI and analytics programs, managing global delivery teams, engaging senior stakeholders, and driving measurable business outcomes.

The role will involve:

  • Partnering with Pricing, Actuarial, Underwriting, Analytics, and Technology stakeholders to define business objectives, analytical problems, solution roadmaps, and success metrics.
  • Understanding client businesses, identifying opportunities, generating insights, and translating analytics into actionable business recommendations.
  • Leading engagements involving advanced analytical solutions across areas such as pricing, renewal optimization, persistency, risk analytics, predictive modeling, and decision optimization.
  • Managing delivery across multidisciplinary teams spanning Data Science, Data Engineering, MLOps, Application Engineering, and Business Analysis.
  • Understanding analytical methodologies, assumptions, constraints, trade-offs, and model outputs to facilitate effective discussions with technical teams and domain stakeholders.
  • Communicating analytical insights, recommendations, delivery progress, risks, and business impact to senior client stakeholders.
  • Driving executive-level stakeholder communication, governance, risk management, issue resolution, and alignment across client and internal teams.
  • Driving solution adoption through stakeholder engagement, demonstrations, user validation, UAT, pilots, and change management.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand client engagements through AI and advanced analytics-led transformation initiatives.
  • Operating effectively within a global delivery model and coordinating across diverse teams and time zones.

The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Insurance, with experience in one or more of the following areas: Commercial or Group Insurance, Pricing & Renewal Optimization, Underwriting Analytics, Actuarial Analytics, Customer Retention & Persistency, Risk Analytics, Predictive Modeling, AI & Machine Learning, Decision Optimization, and Insurance Data & Analytics.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead enterprise AI and advanced analytics engagements for insurance clients from discovery and solution design through implementation, production deployment, and adoption.
  • Serve as the primary engagement lead and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Pricing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Analytics, and Technology.
  • Translate complex insurance business challenges into well-defined analytical and AI problem statements in partnership with business and technical teams.
  • Define engagement scope, roadmaps, delivery milestones, governance mechanisms, success metrics, and expected business outcomes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, Application Developers, Business Analysts, and domain specialists.
  • Provide delivery oversight across predictive modeling, optimization, data engineering, MLOps, and application development workstreams.
  • Facilitate discussions on analytical methodologies, assumptions, constraints, model outputs, and business implications with technical and domain stakeholders.
  • Ensure analytical recommendations are explainable, commercially relevant, and aligned with actuarial, pricing, and underwriting decision processes.
  • Drive business adoption through solution demonstrations, executive presentations, working sessions, UAT, pilots, and change-management activities.
  • Proactively manage scope, timelines, resources, dependencies, delivery risks, stakeholder concerns, and escalations.
  • Ensure alignment between client stakeholders and internal delivery teams throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Identify adjacent opportunities where AI and advanced analytics can deliver additional business value and drive account growth.
  • Support solution design, proposal development, client presentations, and broader business development initiatives.
Required Educational Qualifications & Experience
  • 8-12 years of experience in consulting, AI, analytics, digital transformation, or related areas, with demonstrated experience leading complex client engagements.
  • 5+ years of experience leading enterprise analytics or AI programs for insurance clients, preferably across pricing, underwriting, actuarial, risk, or related analytical functions.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance value chain and key concepts across pricing, renewals, underwriting, persistency and retention, risk segmentation, loss ratios, profitability, and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Actuarial, Underwriting, Pricing, Analytics, and Technology stakeholders within insurance organizations.
  • Experience leading enterprise AI, advanced analytics, or data-driven transformation programs from business problem definition through implementation, production deployment, and adoption.
  • Strong quantitative orientation with the ability to understand and critically evaluate statistical, predictive modeling, and optimization approaches.
  • Ability to understand analytical methodologies, model assumptions, constraints, trade-offs, and outputs and translate them into clear business implications and recommendations.
  • Experience with analytical solutions in one or more areas such as pricing optimization, price elasticity, persistency modeling, predictive modeling, risk analytics, portfolio optimization, or decision science.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and facilitate effective discussions with senior business stakeholders and technically sophisticated audiences, including actuaries and underwriters.
  • Experience leading global, cross-functional teams spanning Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Business functions.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and client relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, resolve escalations, and drive complex engagements to successful outcomes.
  • Experience managing large-scale consulting engagements, including scope, timelines, resources, risks, and commercial commitments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in a relevant quantitative or business discipline is preferred.
