Job description

Are you an experienced EFDA who enjoys building relationships with patients, working as part of a supportive team, and taking pride in providing excellent dental care?

Our growing private dental practice in Alexandria is looking for a dependable, positive, and patient-focused Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team. We value teamwork, clear communication, high-quality dentistry, and creating an environment where both our patients and team members feel comfortable and appreciated.

This is a full-time, Monday-through-Thursday position with minimal travel. We are looking for someone who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys staying busy, and is willing to step in wherever needed to help the day run smoothly.

What You’ll Do

Welcome patients and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit

Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures

Perform expanded functions in accordance with Indiana requirements

Place and finish restorative materials with attention to quality and patient comfort

Take accurate, high-quality dental radiographs

Prepare treatment rooms and ensure they are properly stocked and ready for patient care

Follow sterilization, infection-control, and safety protocols

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Dentrix

Provide patients with clear post-treatment instructions and oral-health education

Help maintain dental equipment and communicate any maintenance needs

Work collaboratively with the clinical and administrative teams to keep the schedule running efficiently

What We’re Looking For

Current Indiana EFDA qualifications

Dental assisting experience

Strong clinical skills and attention to detail

Experience with Dentrix preferred

A warm, professional approach to patient care

Dependability and a strong work ethic

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Someone who is adaptable, organized, and willing to help where needed

A positive attitude and a sense of humor—we work hard, but we also enjoy working together
