Position overview:
The Plant Health Care Technician plays a critical role in the successful management of plant material throughout our portfolio of high-end residential landscapes throughout Southern New England. This position is responsible for completing daily assigned tasks with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety where communication and problem-solving in real time are a necessity. Ideal candidates will have hands-on Plant Health Care experience, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to time and resource management. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring physical work, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated as this is primarily an independent role.
JOB / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Plant Health Care Technician duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
Diagnose insect, disease, and fertility issues on a wide variety of trees and shrubs
Perform applications to improve and maintain the health of plant material using both pesticides and organic materials
Adhere to best Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices
Communicate needs of trees and shrubs on specific properties to Field Production Manager and/or Account Managers
Routine care and regular calibration of spray truck equipment to ensure accurate applications
Be adept at following EPA labels and correctly mixing spray tanks for necessary applications each day
Enter in detailed notes regarding each application including record of material usage and time into handheld device
Assist with ornamental tree pruning when needed
Follow a route to efficiently visit multiple properties each day and effectively complete tasks at each property
Utilize strong time management skills to follow and adjust daily schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and productivity goals.
Ensure all work meets or exceeds company quality standards and adheres to industry's best practices.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess valid Driver's License with clean driving record
Must possess current MA and/ or RI Pesticide Licenses or ability to obtain them prior to employment
Field experience with comparable positions is much preferred
Degree relevant to the field (plant pathology, arboriculture, etc.) is preferred but not required
Willingness to work in all types of weather (heat, rain, cold, snow, etc.)
Willingness to work some Saturdays as workload and weather during busiest times of year may dictate
A strong passion for and dedication to enhancing and managing the quality of the plant material on the properties we maintain
