Job description

Our client is seeking a motivated and analytical Health Program Specialist I to support statewide behavioral health initiatives through program coordination, research, planning, and evaluation activities. This position will play a key role in partnering with a contracted vendor to support the development of a statewide needs assessment. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who enjoys working with data, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to programs that promote behavioral health preparedness, wellness, and community resilience.

In this role, you will conduct research, analyze health-related data and trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and assist with the development and implementation of statewide initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with community partners, service providers, advisory groups, and leadership to identify needs, develop recommendations, support outreach efforts, and ensure programs align with established goals, regulations, and quality standards. Strong analytical abilities, project coordination skills, and effective communication are essential for success in this position.

Essential Duties
  • Support the development and implementation of a statewide behavioral health needs assessment and emergency response planning efforts.
  • Research, collect, analyze, and interpret health, mental health, and behavioral health data to identify trends, community needs, and service gaps.
  • Develop recommendations for program improvements, resource allocation, and strategies to support underserved and at-risk populations.
  • Assist in developing program goals, objectives, protocols, procedures, performance measures, and quality assurance standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, reporting, and outcome measurements.
  • Prepare professional reports, statistical summaries, recommendations, and other program documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance and program support to service providers, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with public and private organizations to strengthen community outreach efforts and support statewide program initiatives.
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, advisory boards, and stakeholder meetings to promote awareness and coordinate program activities.
  • Support public education, outreach campaigns, conferences, meetings, and informational initiatives related to behavioral health and emergency preparedness.
  • Assist with monitoring program compliance, identifying corrective actions when necessary, and ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to additional projects, contracts, grants, and service agreements as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health science, social science, behavioral science, or a closely related field; and
  • Two (2) years of professional experience involving program coordination, health program administration, research, data analysis, program evaluation, emergency preparedness, behavioral health services, or a related field;
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and identify meaningful trends.
  • Experience conducting research, preparing reports, and developing recommendations based on findings.
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, evaluation, and quality improvement principles.
  • Excellent project coordination and organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with community organizations, service providers, and partner agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard business applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Additional Information
  • Location: Remote
  • Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: $34.29 per hour
  • Assignment End Date: September 29, 2027 (no renewal anticipated at this time)
  • Travel: Periodic in-state travel is required for meetings, site monitoring, and program activities. Employees are responsible for paying travel expenses upfront and will be reimbursed in accordance with approved travel policies upon submission of required documentation.
