Description
Manitowoc County is seeking qualified and dependable Sign Language Interpreters to provide interpreting services on an on-call basis. Interpreters will facilitate effective communication between Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing individuals in a variety of settings, including meetings, appointments, trainings, community events, educational programs, and other assignments as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for assigned interpreting engagements.
  • Adapt interpreting services to diverse environments and communication needs.
  • Collaborate professionally with clients and staff.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential.
  • Must hold a current Wisconsin Sign Language Interpreter License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
