SUMMARY: The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing domestic and international
logistics operations to ensure products move safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This position oversees transportation strategy, carrier management, freight negotiations, import/export compliance, logistics budgeting, KPI reporting, continuous improvement, and team development. The Logistics Manager works closely with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, Inventory, Order Management, Sales, Finance, and Customer Service to support company growth while delivering exceptional customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understand company Mission, Vision, and Values and be an ambassador of MVV.
  • Lead all domestic and international transportation operations, including ocean, air, parcel, LTL, FTL, and expedited freight.
  • Develop logistics strategies that improve service levels, increase efficiency, and reduce transportation costs
  • Negotiate domestic and international freight contracts, carrier agreements, and transportation rates.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs requirements, HTS classifications, and Incoterms.
  • Own transportation budgets, analyze freight spend, and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor logistics KPIs including on-time delivery, freight cost, transit time, claims, and carrier scorecards.
  • Provide executive reporting and recommendations to the Sr. Director of Operations.
  • Lead Lean and continuous improvement projects across logistics and distribution.
  • Develop and maintain logistics SOPs and standard work across all facilities.
  • Partner with Purchasing to improve inbound freight and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, and Order Management to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Participate in forecasting, S2OP, demand planning, and capacity planning activities.
  • Support new product launches by creating transportation and distribution plans.
  • Review freight invoices, manage claims, and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Evaluate transportation systems and automation opportunities.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop logistics team members.
  • Establish team goals, performance expectations, and development plans.
  • Serve as the escalation point for critical shipping, customs, and delivery issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of logistics and transportation experience
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience with international freight, freight negotiation, customs documentation, career management, and import/export compliance.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • APICS, CLTD, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification
  • Experience in manufacturing or electronics
  • Knowledge of HTS classifications, duty optimization, and global trade compliance.
