Position Summary

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating and stewarding meaningful philanthropic partnerships with individuals, families, businesses, and foundations to advance Oliver Gospel’s mission.


Position Qualifications

For the Major Gifts Officer

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Proven ability to build trust and engage effectively with high-capacity donors and community leaders.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-based fundraising, donor development, or sales with measurable results.
  • Experience successfully presenting to individuals and groups in donor-facing and/or professional settings.
  • Proficiency with donor CRM systems and donor data management. Donor Perfect experience a plus. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC-based business software.


Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the major gifts strategy in collaboration with the Director of Development and Senior Leadership, with a focus on donor engagement, relationship management, and long-term philanthropic investment.
  • Cultivate major donor relationships through various communication channels.
  • Manage, engage, and increase the quantity and value of current major donors and prospects Partner with the Development team to secure major donor participation and sponsorships for key events, ensuring alignment with relational fundraising priorities.
  • Manage, qualify, and solicit a dynamic major donor portfolio of approximately 100- 125 donors, with accountability for meaningful donor movement, engagement, and long-term retention.
  • Conduct educational and informational presentations and tours of Oliver Gospel’s work to community partners.
  • Research and compile information to create detailed donor profiles on qualified major donors and prospects.
  • Serve as the major donor strategy lead for the Hope Match Challenge, focusing on lead gift development, donor alignment, and relationship-based solicitation, in collaboration with Development team.
  • Represent Oliver Gospel at community or partner events.
  • Provide Leadership with donor information, reporting, and analytics as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
