Job Summary:
Magnetic is hiring a skilled Software Engineer to join our core development team. The role involves building and maintaining backend systems for an AI-driven tax prep platform, collaborating with various teams to enhance features that improve customer experience.
Responsibilities:
• Vision-Language pipelines that process and extract structured data from unstructured client tax documents, relying on AI models, deterministic rules, and human-in-the-loop corrections.
• Systems to test and improve extraction accuracy on complex tax forms, handwritten notes, brokerage statements, and K-1s.
• Distributed cloud infrastructure to process thousands of client files concurrently across multiple firms and tax seasons.
• Integrations with major tax software systems, file portals, and document management tools.
• Features to improve our own client-facing surface area (intake, output artifacts, review process)
Qualifications:
Required:
• Skilled Software Engineer
• Experience in building and maintaining backend systems
• Experience with AI-driven platforms
• Knowledge of model pipelines and data extraction logic
• Experience with integrations with tax software
• Ability to improve client-facing touchpoints
• Collaboration skills to work closely with sales, product, and tax operations
• Ability to ship features that improve speed, accuracy, and reliability
