About The Role
Were seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Seamster to join our growing team. In this role, youll play a key part in production at Magic Items. You will hand sew leather wallets (vegan leather options are also available) with a needle and thread and take part in weekly Seamster exchange meetings.
What You'll Do
- Sew vegan-leather wallets according to the instructions we provide.
- Take part in weekly Seamster Exchange Meetings, which includes bringing your work and materials into Magic Items Headquarters (HQ).
- Receive feedback on work and make any adjustments in person to ensure consistency and quality standards.
- Take home new work to bring back for the next week.
- Progress through a tiered production path:
- Seamster in Training: A 4-week onboarding phase focused on learning basic hand sewing, consistency, and quality.
- Qualified Seamster: Transition into a long-term role and becoming a fully integrated team member.
Output & Compensation
- Seamster in Training (Onboarding Phase)
- Timeframe: Approximately 4 weeks.
- Target Output: 85100 bags total.
- Compensation: $300$500.
- Qualified Seamster (Long-term Role)
- Minimum Weekly Output: 50 bags
- Weekly Hours: ~ 10 to 30 hours (at Seamsters discretion)
- Monthly Compensation: $900$4,000 (dependent on output)

Prerequisites
- Experience or interest in hand sewing/embroidery a plus
- Enjoys crafting and repetition.
- Must be based in NYC and able to report to our office in Downtown Brooklyn for 30 minutes during one day of the week (Monday to Friday).
