An iconic Cape May resort hotel, the Montreal Beach Resort remains a favorite destination for beachgoers to the Jersey shore – and has been since 1966.

The property currently consists of our hotel, which boasts 70+ hotel rooms, a locally favorite restaurant, Harry's Ocean Bar & Grille, which includes Cape May’s only rooftop bar, and of course beach service. Summary:

The General Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. 

Responsibilities:

  • Know, understand, and adhere to company established policies and procedures.

  • Ensures guest interactions are always positive. Smiles with every guest.

  • Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, carpentry, damage to walls, unclogging sinks/toilets and other minor plumbing duties, etc.

  • Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed

  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues

  • Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs and touching up paint

  • Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems

  • Test the functionality of the facility’s safety systems

  • Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions

  • Report to Hotel General Manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.

  • Assembles furniture and fixtures around the property.

  • Responsible for the moving of all furniture and equipment.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a corporate setting

  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

  • Certified Pool Operator is a plus.

  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools

  • Successful completion of on-site apprenticeship training required

  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • General passion for creative problem-solving
