Job DescriptionThe Laser Applications Engineer at Machitech installs, configures, and commissions cutting machines while optimizing precision through calibration and testing. The role provides advanced technical support, operates nesting software, delivers training, collaborates with engineering and R&D on new laser applications, documents results, and stays current with evolving laser cutting technologies.ResponsibilitiesAssemble machine components using electrical and mechanical drawingsPerform start-up testing and machine configurationCarry out functional tests, diagnose issues, and repair electrical and mechanical problemsInstall press brakes primarily in Canada and the United StatesProvide training to operators on installed equipmentRespond to service callsDeliver on-site field service supportPerform any other related dutiesConduct on-site tests on various materials to validate technical specificationsWork closely with R&D and engineering teams to develop new laser applications, including adapting existing systems to meet clients' specific needsDeliver training sessions to clients and internal staffStay up to date with the latest developments in laser and cutting technologiesRequirementsDegree in engineering or a related technical fieldSignificant experience with laser cutting systemsStrong skills in machine adjustment, calibration, programming, and setup to ensure optimal, precise, and reliable cutting performanceRigorous, structured, and scientific approach when conducting testsHands-on experience with high-power fiber lasers (up to 30kW)Solid understanding of the impact of assist gases on equipment performance and cutting qualityProficiency with nesting softwareExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical clientsWillingness to travel frequently within Canada and the United StatesValid driver's license and passport (mandatory)Desired ProfileTeam playerAbility to work in an international environmentCustomer service skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to communicate clearly, summarize, and simplify informationCommitment to delivering quality work, identifying priorities, and meeting deadlinesTHIS ROLE IS FOR ME IF I AM...a technical expert driven to master laser applications and bring them to life through precise assembly, R&D collaboration, and on-site material testing.
