Step into a day on our CNC floor

You clock in on second or third shift, review a complex aerospace print, and map out your setup. You choose the right risers and angle plates, probe the part and tool, dial in speeds and feeds, and watch the first chips fly. You make the call when a cut needs adjustment, verify critical features with precision gauges, record results, and sign off the first-piece for a multi-part run. Before handing off, you tidy your cell so the next operation starts clean.

The role

Major Tool & Machine (MTM) seeks experienced CNC machinists for our second and third shifts. You’ll perform custom, close-tolerance machining from setup through run, applying strong shop math, blueprint fluency, GD&T comprehension, and an eye for quality.

What you will do

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, specs, manuals, and routing to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences, and setups.
• Select, align, and secure workholding; creatively improvise with common tooling (risers, angle plates, etc.) when needed.
• Establish and refine speeds/feeds, depths, and angles of cut; monitor tool performance and surface finish.
• Observe machine behavior to anticipate or catch malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; adjust controls/control media accordingly.
• Verify features to print and router using precision metrology; document results and complete first-article inspection for multi-piece runs.
• Maintain machine and work area cleanliness each shift.

What you bring

• 2+ years of trade school, vocational training, or apprenticeship.
• 3–5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
• Proficiency with general machining practices, shop math, precision measurement, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
• Part and tool probing experience.
• High-speed machining exposure preferred (16–27k RPM).
• Specialized experience with specific processes/equipment may be required for some roles.
• Siemens 840D control familiarity is a plus.
