Engineering Technician | Kustom Signals, Inc.

At Kustom Signals, we take pride in delivering cutting-edge technology solutions to law enforcement agencies across the globe. With over 60 years of dedication to quality and innovation, we’re not just a company — we’re a team driven by purpose. Every product we build, every service we provide, and every relationship we foster reflects our commitment to excellence.

Kustom Signals is seeking an Engineering Technician to support our engineering team in developing, testing, and validating advanced video technology used by law enforcement agencies across the country. This role offers a great opportunity for a technically curious professional who enjoys solving problems, working with modern systems, and contributing to products that help keep communities safe.

In this role, you will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to configure systems, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and performance of our video solutions. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, analytical thinking, and a desire to grow into broader engineering responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and validate video recording devices and backend management systems used in public safety environments.
  • Deploy, test, and troubleshoot products and systems operating in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Support network configuration and connectivity troubleshooting in both lab and field environments.
  • Assist in diagnosing system-level issues involving hardware, firmware, software, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform functional, regression, performance, environmental, and integration testing to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and captured data to identify defects and potential improvements.
  • Document testing results, troubleshooting procedures, and validation reports to support engineering and product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate new features, releases, and system integrations.
  • Support prototype configuration, system bring-up, and early-stage product validation.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to resolve technical issues.
  • Utilize project management and documentation tools such as the Atlassian suite or similar platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by engineering leadership.

This position is primarily based in an office and engineering lab environment. Occasional travel to customer locations or field test sites may be required.

    • 401k retirement savings plan with an employer match of up to 4%.
    • 100% employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after meeting eligibility requirements.
    • Paid time off, including Vacation, Personal or Discretionary (Sick), and ten (10) paid company holidays.
    • Tuition reimbursement for pre-approved courses.
    • Climate-controlled work environment.
    • Consistent weekday schedules provide an exceptional work-life balance.
