  • Manage a high census of newborns overnight, prioritizing care based on acuity in a busy unit.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and monitoring
  • Collaborate with the pediatric resident team, in-house neonatologists, and on-call pediatric hospitalists.
  • Provide family-centered care, including parental education on newborn care, feeding, safety, and follow-up plans.
  • Document thoroughly and efficiently in the electronic medical record (EPIC)
  • Respond promptly to nursery emergencies
  • Provide primary overnight coverage for the newborn nursery, with flexibility to support inpatient pediatric hospital medicine services during periods of lower nursery census including pediatric admissions, consultations, and acute care management as needed.
