Purchasing & Procurement Category Specialist

We are looking for a full-time Purchasing & Procurement Category Specialist to join our growing grocery retail team in Kansas City, MO. The specialist will manage product categories from supplier sourcing and negotiations to sales analysis, category performance, and logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify new suppliers and business partners.

• Communicate with suppliers and negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery terms, and product conditions.

• Manage product categories, product range, product matrix, new item introductions, and discontinuation of slow-moving items.

• Conduct competitor and market analysis by product groups.

• Monitor sales performance, margins, and category financial results.

• Coordinate delivery processes and support efficient stock flow to stores.

• Control supplier transactions, invoices, and related purchasing documentation.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, category management, or retail buying.

• Retail or grocery experience is preferred.

• Strong negotiation and supplier communication skills.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and working with large datasets.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Russian language skills are a plus.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.

• High attention to detail, multitasking, and time-management skills.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
