MDB staff have a wealth of experience in providing water-related services, including technical assistance, performance metrics development, program planning, policy analysis, strategic communication and facilitation, and stakeholder outreach and community engagement.

MDB is seeking a Water Sector Community Engagement Lead to support community-based water and wastewater technical assistance efforts within MDB’s growing water portfolio. This role will serve as a primary liaison among technical assistance providers, engineers, local leaders, utilities, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to advance sustainable water and wastewater solutions in underserved communities.

The Community Lead will work directly with communities to identify challenges, build trust, assess needs, facilitate collaboration, and connect communities with resources that support long-term water infrastructure, wastewater management, and public health goals.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and self-starter who can balance fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, technical assistance activities, and client-facing responsibilities across multiple communities and projects.

This is a remote, limited-term position based within the United States. Occasional travel is expected for multi-day site visits, community meetings, field assessments, technical assistance events, stakeholder workshops, and other project-related activities.

• Plan and execute project tasks in a team environment.
• Support community assessments, data collection, and related travel.
• Support environmental communication and evaluation materials.
• Develop reports, fact sheets, and outreach materials.
• Coordinate with MDB and contractor staff to meet client expectations.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and community engagement activities.
• Represent MDB with clients and stakeholder groups.
• Manage project tasks to meet short and longterm deadlines.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s required; master’s preferred in water, environmental science, public health, or related field.
• Relevant environmental science or public health experience, preferably in water or wastewater.
• Strong project management and community engagement skills in clientfocused settings.
• Excellent communication, data collection and materials development skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders and federal and nonfederal entities.
• Community outreach experience, including public engagement for a government entity.
• Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
