The Operations Maintenance Technician III performs preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment in assigned areas, working with minimal supervision within established procedures. This position troubleshoots and repairs highly technical equipment across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, pump and fluid transfer, and control systems, and performs root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures to eliminate downtime. Technician III supports Engineering with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and provides technical guidance and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Perform preventive inspections and maintenance on production equipment in assigned areas in accordance with the established preventive maintenance program.
  • Clean and inspect equipment, perform adjustments, and replace worn or defective parts and components.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system failures on filling, capping, sealing, coding, packaging, palletizing, and conveyor equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild the plant's pumps and fluid transfer equipment - including Blackmer rotary vane, AODD, centrifugal, and gear pumps.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring and high-impact equipment failures, implement corrective action, and verify effectiveness.
  • Support Engineering with the installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and capital projects.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for external vendors and specialized contractors during equipment repairs and installations.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, electrical schematics, mechanical prints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Complete assigned work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), recording findings, corrective action, parts used, and labor; enter part numbers and adjust preventive maintenance schedules as directed.
  • Locate part numbers and order replacement parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Submit shift reports and communicate equipment status to line operators, supervisors, and plant leadership.
  • Perform all work in adherence to Ascentek EHSS standards and OSHA regulations, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and electrical safe work practices; read and apply Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals and lubricants handled during maintenance work.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Operations Maintenance Technician I and II teammates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • High School diploma or GED

Experience/Training:
  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance experience in an industrial maintenance environment performing preventive and corrective maintenance; OR a technical certification within a relevant discipline combined with a related maintenance background.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing production or packaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding industrial pumps, including rotary vane (Blackmer or similar), AODD, centrifugal, and gear pumps.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven mechanical skills across bearings, seals, chain and belt drives, gearboxes, couplings, and drive components.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial pumps, including rebuild, seal and diaphragm replacement, and the troubleshooting of suction, flow, and pressure problems.
  • Proficiency in motor circuit troubleshooting and AC/DC electrical fundamentals, including the use of a multimeter and interpretation of readings.
  • Working knowledge of control system operation and sensor troubleshooting, with the ability to trace a signal from field device through I/O and isolate a fault.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and compressed air supply systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical prints.
  • Proficiency in locating part numbers and sourcing replacement parts.
  • General working knowledge of facility systems operation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and with a CMMS, including entering work orders and part numbers and editing preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write a clear shift report.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures and to train and mentor less experienced technicians.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with and support outside contractors during specialized repairs and installations.

Education:
  • Technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training in industrial maintenance, industrial electrical, mechatronics, millwright, or machining.

Experience and/or Training:
  • Hands-on experience with liquid filling, capping, induction sealing, coding, and palletizing equipment.
  • Machining experience on a lathe or mill.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • PLC and HMI experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), including the ability to go online, monitor I/O, and interpret logic to troubleshoot.
  • Variable frequency drive (VFD) setup and parameter troubleshooting.

Physical demands: Standing and walking the production floor for the duration of the shift; bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion. Climbing stairs and working from ladders and lifts. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception are required.
Mental Demands: Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions; perform complex and varied technical tasks; diagnose equipment failures methodically under production pressure; make sound repair decisions independently; prioritize competing work; communicate orally and in written form with operators, supervisors, plant leadership, and outside vendors; train and mentor less experienced technicians.
Environmental demands: Manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, steam, chemicals, and lubricants. Extreme heat in production and warehouse areas exceeding 80 degrees during summer months. Work around moving machinery, rotating equipment, stored energy, and powered industrial trucks. Work at heights from ladders and lifts. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses and steel-toe footwear, with additional task-specific PPE as required by the hazard.
The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $36 and $40 hourly. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:
