Position Details:
Part-time opportunities
1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift available
Located at our Nottingham facility in Jamesville, NY (please note: this location is not on a bus route)

WHAT DOES A HOME HEALTH AIDE DO?
As a Certified Home Health Aide (HHA), supporting the mission of Loretto, will include the following responsibilities:
  • Provide health care tasks to serve Loretto residents, including, personal hygiene services, housekeeping tasks, and other related support services essential to the residents' health
  • Work with Loretto's clinical team to record and report changes regarding the resident's physical condition, behavior, or appearance
  • Perform light housekeeping duties including cooking, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, & sweeping
  • Assist with bathing, dressing and grooming
  • Assist with transfer and ambulation including the use of a cane, walker, and wheelchair
Qualifications
  1. Able to read, write, speak the English language and follow written directions.
  2. Able to demonstrate completion of medication training requirements -able to pass medication competency tests including a written exam and Medication Administration Test/Cart Quiz.
  3. Able to work under supervision, know limits of job description, and learn skills as required. Participates in at least 12 hours of in-service education per year to maintain certification.
  4. Able to understand and carry out directions and instructions; ability to report changes in client's condition and other pertinent information.
  5. Able to accurately record information and maintain basic records.
  6. Possess the emotional and mental maturity and stability to care for the frail elderly and other disabled or compromised clients in their "home" environment; ability to deal tactfully with clients, families, other support persons and members of the health care team.
  7. Able to follow guidelines established by Loretto's Customer Service as presented at Loretto Orientation.
  8. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize work tasks and carry out ongoing care plan.
  9. Must be 18 years or older.
  10. 10. Possess training or certification from an approved Home Health Aide Training program or have the capability to take and pass Certified Home Health Aide Certification through the American Red Cross or other approved program.
  11. Ability to be flexible in regards to clients care needs.
  12. Able to work scheduled hours and adhere to union established guidelines.
  13. High School diploma or equivalent.
  14. Must be capable of approved employment status on DOH Homecare Registry and approval by the DOH CHRC background check.
