Role Description The Prep Cook is a part-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for preparing ingredients, portioning and labeling items, and supporting cooking and baking activities for catering events. Day-to-day tasks include following standardized recipes, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, organizing the prep area, and assisting with setup for event service. The Prep Cook will work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation, minimize waste, and maintain high-quality presentation of food. The role may also involve cleaning workstations, managing inventory of ingredients, and performing other duties as assigned by the kitchen leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Strong food preparation skills, including basic knife skills and ingredient handling (Food Preparation, Food & Beverage).
  • Ability to support hot and cold menu items with consistent quality (Cooking, Food & Beverage).
  • Foundational baking skills for desserts, pastries, or baked goods as needed (Baking, Food Preparation).
  • Clear and professional communication with kitchen and event teams (Communication).
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices; ability to follow health regulations.
  • Ability to work on-site, stand for extended periods, and lift moderate weights as required in a kitchen environment.
  • Prior experience in catering, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environments is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
