Work Environment

The successful candidate will work onsite at our hospital located in Houston, Texas. The environment is fast-paced yet collaborative, with a strong focus on teamwork. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources, promoting an efficient and effective workflow. The work schedule includes 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with on-call responsibilities on Saturdays to address patient needs promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to patients suffering from chronic pain, including conducting thorough assessments, diagnosing conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and recommend therapies in collaboration with physicians, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols and patient safety.
• Perform clinical procedures such as injections and nerve blocks, following established guidelines to enhance patient comfort and outcomes.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, responding to patient inquiries and emergencies, particularly during weekend coverage.
• Document patient interactions, treatment progress, and outcomes meticulously to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Educate patients and their families about pain management strategies, medication use, and lifestyle modifications that contribute to improved health.
• Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions to stay updated on the latest advancements in pain management.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by participating in case reviews and audits, enhancing the overall service delivery within the department.
• Maintain effective communication with healthcare team members to ensure a cohesive approach to patient management.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will primarily work with patients experiencing a range of chronic pain conditions, including but not limited to arthritis, back pain, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain. Our clientele includes individuals from various backgrounds, requiring empathy, patience, and cultural competency to address their unique challenges effectively.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is preferred.

Preferred Experience

While new graduates are encouraged to apply, candidates with prior experience in pain management, orthopedics, or a similar field will be given preference. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and pain management protocols is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary in the range of USD 120,000 to 140,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
