Key Responsibilities

Mental Health Counselors at Little Fuse Psychiatric Services engage in a variety of tasks aimed at delivering effective psychiatric care:

  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments to identify patients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, adjusting these plans as patients progress.
  • Diagnose and treat a range of mental health disorders, providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Coordinate care by referring patients to appropriate community resources, treatment programs, or specialists to enhance their well-being.
  • Facilitate the development of discharge plans for patients, ensuring that they receive ongoing support and referrals to community services post-treatment.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations while acting within the scope of the Mental Health Practice Act.
  • Organize and prioritize daily tasks associated with patient assessments, including managing new, current, and discharging patients.
  • Provide educational resources and support to patients' families, assisting them with coping strategies and community connections.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care, resolve issues, and enhance treatment outcomes.
  • Embrace the role of patient advocate, ensuring effective communication and workflow among care teams, families, and community resources.
  • Offer support and debriefing for staff involved in challenging cases, contributing to a cohesive and resilient team.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our counselors work with a diverse patient population, including individuals experiencing a wide array of mental health challenges. The role involves working with adults, adolescents, and families from various backgrounds, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other complex mental health disorders. Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Psychologist.
  • Strong understanding of community mental health resources and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage with clients and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within a community mental health setting or clinic is preferred.
  • Familiarity with telehealth practices and engagement in remote counseling.
  • Prior experience with crisis management and intervention.
  • Strength in handling complex cases involving multiple stakeholders.
