The Role
Our teachers and caregivers are integral to our team, working together as a cohesive group to maintain the mission, vision, and values of Little Explorers Early Learning Academy. You will work in the childcare facility on a regular basis, engaging and interacting with children throughout the day to provide the highest quality of care and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Care: Ensure the health and safety of all children at all times; supervise children continuously to guarantee adequate care and progress.
- Curriculum & Activities: Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum across all early learning domains; plan daily activities and submit completed lesson plans to the office.
- Communication: Update the Brightwheel app daily to keep parents informed; maintain clear, honest, and productive communication with families.
- Documentation: Maintain real-time attendance and supervision records (via Brightwheel Name-to-Face); keep portfolios of student work and classroom observations.
- Assessments: Complete developmental assessments tri-annually and conduct progress discussions with parents.
- Classroom Management: Keep the classroom safe, clean, and organized; prepare and serve meals/snacks; assist with diaper changing and potty-training.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with staff, offering guidance in your areas of strength while remaining open to feedback, training, and professional growth.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good character, integrity, and a genuine love for children.
- Sufficient knowledge, stability, energy, maturity, and intelligence to thrive in a childcare setting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to shifting schedules based on the center's needs.
- CPR / First Aid Certification (or a willingness to obtain it).
- Physical Ability: Able to kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, stand for long periods, work both indoors and outdoors, and engage in physical activities like jumping, dancing, running, and lifting at least 40 pounds.
Strongly Preferred
- College education or coursework in Early Childhood Education.
- State Teacher Certification and/or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Relevant experience working with young children.
