Weldpro is seeking a Welding Technical Support Specialist to provide technical support for our welding and cutting equipment. This role serves as the primary technical resource for customers, distributors, and internal personnel requiring assistance with machine setup, troubleshooting, warranty claims, and welding process applications.
The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on welding knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to diagnose equipment and application issues over the phone, through email, and through video communication.
This is a self-directed position requiring independent decision-making, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer support.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for welding and cutting equipment via phone and email
- Diagnose equipment setup issues, operational problems, and potential machine failures
- Guide customers through troubleshooting procedures and corrective actions
- Determine when equipment issues are related to setup, consumables, user operation, power supply conditions, or product failure
- Process and administer warranty claims
- Coordinate replacement parts and warranty resolutions
- Document technical cases and maintain support records
- Answer customer questions regarding welding processes, machine setup, parameters, consumables, and applications
- Assist distributors and dealers with technical inquiries
- Review and maintain technical documentation as needed
- Participate in product evaluation and testing when required
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and plasma cutting processes
- Ability to diagnose welding equipment and application problems remotely
- Understanding of welding theory and practical welding applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and general PC operation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing technical support in the welding industry
- Hands-on welding experience in industrial, fabrication, maintenance, or manufacturing environments
- Experience processing warranty claims
- Experience with inverter-based welding equipment
- Familiarity with welding distributors, dealers, and industrial customers
