Lightning Mechanical LLC is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our team in Maplewood, New Jersey. We provide commercial and industrial HVAC service, maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation throughout New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area.

Our technicians work on a wide range of equipment, including VRV and VRF systems, rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, boilers, pumps, motors, cooling towers, ventilation systems, controls, and related mechanical equipment. Lightning Mechanical also provides factory-trained service for Daikin VRV and Applied systems and supports many other major HVAC manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and control-system issues
• Service VRV and VRF systems, rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, boilers, pumps, motors, and cooling towers
• Replace compressors, motors, controls, valves, sensors, and other components
• Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak testing
• Complete service reports clearly and accurately
• Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and equipment conditions to customers and office staff
• Identify root causes instead of only addressing immediate symptoms
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, parts, and equipment
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable codes
• Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency service
• Travel to customer locations throughout New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of commercial HVAC service experience preferred
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
• Experience working on commercial HVAC equipment and controls
• Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, airflow, hydronic systems, and mechanical components
• EPA Section 608 certification required
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work independently and complete service documentation accurately
• Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, work on rooftops, and perform the physical duties of the position
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Daikin VRV, VRF, chiller, boiler, controls, or manufacturer training is strongly preferred
• Factory training and additional HVAC certifications are a plus
