    Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

    LIFESPAN’s Services mission is to empower children and adults with disabilities by providing education, employment and enrichment opportunities to live, work and play in their communities. We focus on the interests of each individual we support to ensure their well-being, dignity and right of choice. As a Job Development Specialist, you work 1:1 with local employers to obtain job placements. You will be responsible for placing individuals in the most appropriate employment setting and for assisting him/her on a regular basis.  In addition, you will provide training, mentoring and support for your team of Senior Employment Specialists.  LIFESPAN Services is committed to helping you succeed by providing a supportive team environment, training, growth and development, and career advancement.     What you’ll do:

    • Market LIFESPAN employment services to area businesses in order to obtain optimal job matches for individuals receiving services.
    • Provide job search support, coaching, and assistance to equip individuals with tools needed to procure employment.
    • Prepare individuals for interview and entry into the workforce.
    • Establishes and maintains working relationships with employers and public agencies to secure ongoing employment opportunities.
    • Participate in local and/or regional area job fairs.
    • Transport individuals to and from job search outings and work sites as needed.
    • Travel to various employment sites within the local and/or regional area to meet with individuals, families, and employers.
    • Follow VR regulations and guidelines for supported employment.
    • Exercise judgment in implementing goals, policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that goals and plans are implemented.
    • Assist in selecting potential individuals through screening and assessment procedures.
    • Assign, review, and plan work for individuals, ensuring that they are placed in the most

    appropriate and least restrictive job for their individual needs and interest.

    • Work as liaison between the employer and employee to ensure needs are met.
    • Training, technical assistance, monitoring safety conditions, providing transportation and follow -along support.
    • Advocate for individuals requiring reasonable accommodations at work sites in order to maintain employment.
    • Establish and maintain good relationships with various individuals and agencies including area supervisors, referring agencies, VR counselors, parents/guardians, case workers, employers, etc.
    • Receive, review, process, file and/or submit a variety of documents and reports for the
    • Remain abreast of new trends by attending workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings, etc. as needed.

    What you need:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check
    • Pass driving record check if providing transportation
    • Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or Sales (preferred)
    • Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Note: Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required. If you do not currently have certification from an approved provider, our American Red Cross certified instructors will provide you the training.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
    • Be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
