Work Environment

The work setting is primarily onsite at our Rosedale clinic, where you will engage with a cohesive team of physicians, nurses, and support staff. The standard work schedule spans Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening or weekend shifts expected for special events or emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform essential administrative functions such as scheduling patient appointments, maintaining accurate medical charts, and managing electronic health records (EHR) with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Greet patients warmly, collect comprehensive health histories, and prepare them for examinations or treatments, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit.
  • Assist physicians during patient assessments, minor surgeries, and procedures by demonstrating a strong understanding of medical equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and adherence to established protocols for effective laboratory testing.
  • Administer medications, including injections, under the supervision of physicians, focusing on patient safety and strict adherence to medical guidelines.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests such as EKGs, urinalysis, and blood glucose monitoring, accurately interpreting and documenting results.
  • Educate patients on medication use, procedures, and general health information, utilizing your exceptional communication skills to enhance their understanding and autonomy.
  • Perform routine patient assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting patient information comprehensively.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in examination rooms, sterilizing instruments and managing medical supplies efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and participate in developing comprehensive treatment plans.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will interact with a diverse patient population, including children, families, and adult patients with varied health concerns. Our focus on internal medicine and pediatrics requires sensitivity and adaptability in communication and care approaches to address each patient’s unique background and requirements.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree; an accredited Medical Assistant program is highly preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized body such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology, with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare principles.
  • Proficient in utilizing EHR systems and other medical software for efficient patient documentation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, allowing for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize efficiently in a busy environment, remaining focused under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining ethical standards in patient confidentiality and data security.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, previous experience in a medical assistant role within an outpatient clinic will be advantageous. Familiarity with common procedures and practices in family medicine or pediatrics will enhance your ability to contribute effectively from day one.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time Medical Assistant position offers a competitive salary range of USD 50,000 to 65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
