Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the symptoms of clients suffering from mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. This includes understanding the impact of these symptoms on their daily functioning.
• Collaborate closely with clients to create individualized treatment plans that account for their goals, preferences, and backgrounds, ensuring every plan is tailored to their unique needs.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to effectively address patients’ challenges and facilitate their recovery.
• Educate clients and their families on mood disorders, available treatments, and coping strategies to enhance their understanding and engagement in the treatment process.
• Monitor patients’ progress regularly, making informed adjustments to treatment plans as necessary, ensuring that changes reflect clinical assessments and client feedback.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with psychiatrists and other medical professionals to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to each client’s mental health care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in adherence with ethical and legal compliance standards.
• Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and training sessions aimed at enhancing clinical skills and awareness of current best practices in mood disorder treatment.
• Advocate for clients by promoting awareness and understanding of mental health issues, challenging stigma, and ensuring that client voices are heard in their care processes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Liberty Psychological Recovery Center, you will work primarily with adults facing challenges related to mood disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Our clientele is diverse in age, ethnicity, and life experiences, which enriches the therapeutic environment and allows for culturally informed treatment approaches.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT within the state of New York is essential.
• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based therapeutic modalities for treating mood disorders, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
• A strong understanding of psychopharmacology principles enables effective collaboration with psychiatric staff for integrated treatment planning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing for the establishment of a trusting therapeutic alliance with clients from various backgrounds.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in outpatient psychiatric settings or community health clinics is preferred.
• A proven history of successful outcomes in therapy with mood disorder patients will enhance your candidacy.
• Familiarity with telehealth tools and technologies to facilitate remote therapy sessions will be an asset.
