PROJECT ENGINEER – MECHANICAL/HVAC CONSTRUCTION


Location: Dallas–Fort Worth, TX

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience

Experience Level: Entry Level | 1–2+ Years

Industry: Commercial Mechanical / HVAC / Plumbing Construction


POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to support commercial mechanical construction projects throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management graduate, or an early-career professional with mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing construction experience who wants to build a long-term career in project management.


The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to help coordinate projects from preconstruction through completion.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial mechanical construction projects.
  • Review mechanical and plumbing drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project tracking.
  • Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Track project schedules, material deliveries, equipment, and outstanding action items.
  • Assist with procurement and ensure materials and equipment are available according to project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify potential conflicts or coordination issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project updates to internal teams.
  • Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and project reporting.
  • Support quality control, safety, and project closeout activities.
  • Help ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and customer expectations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience.
  • Recent Mechanical Engineering graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or MEP construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Internship or co-op experience with a mechanical/plumbing subcontractor is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with both office and field teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar construction software is a plus.

The ideal candidate is early in their career and wants to develop into a strong mechanical construction professional. We are especially interested in candidates who have:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree and an interest in construction.
  • Internship or early-career experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical, or plumbing construction.
  • Exposure to project coordination, RFIs, submittals, drawings, scheduling, or procurement.
  • A willingness to learn both the technical and operational sides of mechanical construction.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
