About the Role
HII is seeking an experienced Electrician/Deck Electrician to support shipyard operations in Hampton Roads, VA. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and distribution networks aboard naval and commercial vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair shipboard electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and control circuits.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Pull, terminate, and label electrical cables and wiring throughout shipboard spaces.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical systems using appropriate test equipment.
- Perform switchboard, motor, and electrical panel installations and maintenance.
- Coordinate with other trades to support integrated system installations.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and naval specifications.
- Follow all shipyard electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of shipboard or industrial electrical experience; marine environment preferred.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment (multimeters, meggers, etc.).
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- High school diploma or GED required; electrical license or certification a plus.
- Must be willing to undergo background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required.
- Clean driving record required.

- Exposure to noise, heat, cold, confined spaces, and marine/industrial hazards
- PPE required at all times
