Lakeside Eye Associates is looking for an experienced, compassionate, and patient-focused Optometric Technician to join our growing team in Huntersville, North Carolina.
As an Optometric Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering outstanding patient care by preparing patients for their examinations, performing diagnostic testing, documenting medical information, and supporting our doctors throughout the patient visit.

What You'll Do:
Patient Care

  • Welcome patients and create a positive first impression.
  • Obtain and document medical, ocular, surgical, and medication histories.
  • Record chief complaints and reason for today's visit.
  • Escort patients through the examination process while ensuring comfort and efficiency.

Clinical Testing

  • Perform pre-testing including:
  • Visual Acuity
  • Auto Refraction
  • Lensometry
  • Tonometry
  • Visual Fields
  • OCT Imaging
  • Retinal Photography
  • Pachymetry
  • Color Vision Testing
  • Stereo Testing

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Administer eye drops as directed by the doctor.
  • Prepare patients for contact lens evaluations.
  • Assist the doctor during patient examinations.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the day.

Documentation

  • Enter patient information accurately into the EMR.
  • Document testing results and physician findings.
  • Maintain complete, accurate patient records.
  • Patient Education
  • Explain testing procedures.
  • Educate patients on contact lens care and eye health.
  • Answer general patient questions regarding testing and procedures.

Clinical Support

  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Monitor clinical supply inventory.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy medical office.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Team-oriented attitude.

Preferred:

  • Previous Optometric Technician or Ophthalmic Technician experience.
  • Experience performing diagnostic pre-testing.
  • EMR/EHR experience.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology.
  • Contact lens experience.
  • Experience working in a medical office.
